The organization was founded in 2000 by the Patron / Founder Dr. Mike Okonkwo,
the Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) worldwide. The
Foundation was formally registered in 2003 as Mike Okonkwo Foundation.
The ELP Foundation formerly known as Mike Okonkwo Foundation under
the chairmanship of Dr. Erastus B.O Akingbola (MON), the Group Chief
Executive of Intercontinental Bank Plc; the foundation is a non-profit,
non-religious and non-governmental organization committed to alleviating
the plight of the underprivileged. It promotes ethical standards and assists
in imparting vocational skills to the Nigerian youth thus making them self-sustaining.
Within the Last Five years the Foundation has successfully carried out the following:

The Foundation currently runs five vocational centres in Agege,
Ajegunle, Ajah, Lagos-Island and Mushin. These centres are
devoted to teaching people various self help entrepreneurial skills.
They also have preparatory classes designed to equip students with
knowledge for success in WAEC, NECO, GCE and JAMB Examinations. The
centres have literacy classes to enable interested adults learn to read and write.

The Foundation has awarded scholarships to financially challenged but gifted
children for various courses of study in Nigerian universities. 51 students have benefited from this scheme.

The Foundation offers free Blood Sugar Test, Blood Pressure Test and Weight
Test during major events, beneficiaries of this programme include Kingdom Life
World Congress, Real Woman Foundation, Pastor Olumide Emmanuel Financial Seminar,
Daystar Christian Centre Living Beyond Now Seminar, Medical Outreach conducted at Oworonshoki,
amongst others. Over 600 people have received free tests and counselling from our health personnel.

In 2009, donated 100 wheelchairs to the following hospitals USMAN DAN FODIYO UNIVERSITY

TEACHING HOSPITAL, IMO STATE UNIVERSIY TEACHING HOSPITAL
(IMSUTH), ORLU, IMO STATE, ENUGU STATE UNIVERSITY
TEACHING HOSPITAL, ENUGU, NATIONAL ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL
ENUGU, GENERAL HOSPITAL MINNA, NIGER STATE, ABIA STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL.

In 2008, two new centres began operations of vocational skills training in Ajah
and Lagos Island; increasing the Foundation’s vocational skill centres to a total of thereby
increasing the number of centres to five within Lagos State.

In 2007, the Foundation introduced metal works training with specialization in welding this
programme is supported by Cakasa Nigeria Company. Training in Fashion Designing and Computer
Engineering were also introduced.

In 2007, the Foundation increased scholarships to brilliant but financially challenged students
in various tertiary institutions in Nigeria from 19 to 47 students. Bursary was reviewed upwards
from N30,000 to N50,000 per session.

In 2006, 100 wheelchairs were donated to 9 hospitals and 1 association in the country.
The hospitals include, National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi and Lagos State University
Teaching Hospital, Ikeja in Lagos. Others are Stat Specialist Hospital, Abeokuta, State
Specialist Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, State Specialist Hospital, Osogbo, State Specialist Hospital,
Adeoyo Hospital, Ibadan, University College Hospital, Ibadan, State Specialist Hospital, Akure
and State Specialist Hospital, Ado-Ekiti. Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria also benefited
from the kind gesture.

In 2003, while operating as Mike Okonkwo Foundation, started an institutional support program
under which a total of Forty (40) wheelchairs were donated to Lagos University Teaching
Hospital (LUTH), General Hospital, Lagos, National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos
and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, Lagos.
